Dear Rasulullah

Dear Rasulullah
It is a pain in my heart
Having learnt about you
I feel it is very hard
To follow what you do

Days keep passing
And as the mind became rusty
It gets more embarrassing
When I compare you and me

Dear Rasulullah
Though you are unlettered, your teaching keeps growing,
While here I am in University, having no idea what I am doing.

Dear Rasulullah

You were promised the Gardens, yet you prayed until your feet were battered,
While I am heavily sin-laden, yet the prayers sometimes I neglected.

Dear Rasulullah
In your prostration, you were thrown vile animal innards,
While in my frustration, I threw around disgusting swear words.

Dear Rasulullah

With your tears and blood, you spawned empires upon empires,
While I keep myself occupied, paying bills and fixing wires.

Dear Rasulullah

You were the most respected human on Earth, yet you remain humble and modest,
I am disliked and despised, but my ego remains the largest.

Dear Rasulullah

You call for people to worship God with your utmost,
I gave up even inviting my friends to the mosque.

Dear Rasulullah
Your name is being tainted day by day,
Yet there’s not much that I do, only sitting here muttering “It’s not okay”.

Dear Rasulullah
Through all those haze, I still find a joyous beam,
To at least be called your ummah is more than a treasure, verily,
And I hope that I am not a hypocrite when I dream,
That on the Day, you would smile when you see me.
